Running errands out of adversity for Maria Xynias – a start-up turning impressive profits in 2 years

When Maria Xynias was bowled over by a serious illness for about two years, she was bowled over by the support of her family network to get her back on her feet. She calls it her big Greek family network!

That family support model has become a business model and Maria is loving every minute of it – today in the AFR Weekend.

In two years since Maria Xynias launched her website, Ladies Running Errands, she is turning an impressive profit.

Based in Balmain, in Sydney, Maria says it is a very personal service and covers anything to make people’s daily lives easier – among the jobs are school runs, pets to the vet, airport or theatre transfers.  In 2013 she launched new services:  project management for kitchen renovations and candy buffets (at right) where you provide the table and she does the rest!

Maria set up the website using Sensis SiteSmart, which is managed for about $400 a month and she uses Sensis ClickManager for search engine marketing.  Simple – when you know how!

It’s a lovely story and Maria is one person for whom I wish a world of success.  Her dream: “All I want is for this to be a big family business and for everyone to have the same care shown to their families as we have in our own.”  Marvellous Maria.
